on our eleventh date of christmas, we bundled up and made way through the cold night air to the lessons & carols service at one of our neighborhood churches. this service is one i loved attending a million years ago when i lived in charleston, and i looked so forward to sharing this tradition with christopher. spending an evening tucked in a stunning old church peppered with candles and lit trees, listening to biblical readings from genesis, the prophetic books, and the gospels spoken in turn with sung carols and hymns is something else. we found it to be such a lovely way to ring in christmas week.
