i am in st. pete beach for work this week, attending various sessions hosted by my publishing house's editors and authors -- a pep talk of sorts for the year ahead. one talk thus far, delivered by an astronomy author, has properly thumped my heartstrings. he told the story of a fellow astronomer who, when asked in an interview, how much are they paying you?, responded --
enough to go to the opera.

what a recipe for happiness. for wholeness. a life's work that takes you over, a heart for living the simple & the beautiful deeply, and the wisdom to recognize what enough looks like.
