into the orchard.

saturday morning was crisp as can be, just the weather for a drive upstate. coffee and bagels and playlist for the occasion in tow, we three hit the road for a tradition years in the making.

warwick valley is one of the most enchanting pockets of new york i've seen yet, all rickety red barns and the sorts of farmhouses dreams are made of. cow crossing signs and farmstands, vegetables and mums and pumpkins aplenty, dapple the winding country roads. leaves burst rust and gold with the pomp of these deep autumn days.

we picked our bounty at warwick vallery winery, sipping cider as we went—apple and pumpkin and pear, pressed at this very orchard. and now, i've got some baking to do.
