afternoon on roosevelt island.

always up for an adventure, i jumped at amanda's idea to take the tram over to roosevelt island on saturday. the island is small—only two miles long and 800 feet wide—and has a fascinating history and a panoramic view of manhattan's east side. we spent the afternoon walking the waterfront, exploring the old smallpox hospital ruins, and admiring the cherry trees in all their glory. after the sun went down, we stopped for chocolate milkshakes on the way home. it was such a good day.
