my dear granny came to visit this weekend. it was wonderful. it was her first visit to the city since childhood and i really think we hit the high points—soho and the village in their christmas colors, coffee at joe, grand central terminal, the rockefeller center tree, chinatown for soup dumplings on a cold afternoon. she kept saying "this is magical!" and i loved watching her soak it all up. my heart is full.
