there is a parfumerie in williamsburg that bottles memories. instead of smelling like things, the perfumes are inspired by places and experiences, and have names like winter 1972, in the library, memory of kindness, and at the beach 1966 (my favorite). one was even inspired by the passage in a room with a view where george kisses lucy in a field of violets. it makes me happy to know that a place like this exists.
