new year.

in my family, each new year is celebrated with a meal representing wishes for health, wealth, and good luck in the coming days. to appease all of the cultures converging in our house, the meal may feature any combination of pork, collard greens, blackeyed peas, corn, knackwurst and sauerkraut, cornbread, and potatoes.

we went a little (a lot?) overboard this year and all of the above made an appearance at our table. oh, well. we are excited about 2011. so many possibilities!

  1. I thought of you yesterday as I was eating black eyed peas and collard greens with my family as well. Aren't southern traditions wonderful?!
