weekend.

oh my goodness, what a weekend.

my parents came up for a visit and i could not have been more thrilled to have them here. our days were filled to the brim with good food and quality time. no surprise there—weekends with them always promise as much.

this visit began at the boil for a lower east side spin on a lowcountry boil, always a favorite dinner in this family. for dessert, we surprised my dad with a belated birthday cheesecake from s&s bakery. i will never forget the look on his face when he realized the candles and cake were for him!

on saturday morning, we met angie for one last pre-babies hoorah—and just in time, because she went into labor the very next day! that evening, we shared pasta and wine at carmine's, saw "the book of mormon" on broadway, and went to lillie's for a nightcap.

sunday brought sunshine, fried chicken and french toast at jacob's pickles, a long walk through central park, a peek at the fifth avenue greek parade, and guacamole and margaritas with bethany at dos caminos.

it's always a treat to host my family but this weekend was especially sweet. how wonderful to see my parents, my friends, and my boy all together, having fun and enjoying each other's company. i couldn't hope for anything more. it's everything.

  3. Ahh what a lovely post :-) My boyfriend and I are headed to New York later this month for a week, so it's good to read about places to go for food/drinks! I love, love, love that graffiti shot, too - where was that?? Would love to get my own shot of it when I'm in New York (eeek!)

    1. ahhh that's exciting! you two will have a blast. hopefully the weather warms up a tad for you while you're here!

the graffiti wall is on the side of pizza beach on the upper east side (third avenue between 80th and 81st streets). i had never noticed it before we wandered by this weekend!
