weekend in san francisco.

take a trip by myself has occupied the tip top of my travel list right next to san francisco for as long as i can remember. so when i found out i was going to be in long beach for work just a few weeks before my 25th birthday, i thought it the perfect time to take myself up on that dream. i spent the weekend exploring the city, camera in hand, living by my own whims.

i only did a few of the things i was told i should do...and i never road a cable car, ate sourdough, or walked the bridge. but i did go to the farmers market, watch seals in the bay, chat with locals over saturday coffee, and spend several hours in city lights bookstore two days in a row. it turns out that san francisco is a fantastic city in which to travel alone.

  1. These photos are beautiful. I'm leaving San Francisco right now and it makes me sad to know I won't be back for 4 months. I love it here and it's one of the best places to be alone, there is so much to see, do and people to watch.

  4. I love this! I have never entirely taken a trip alone, but I do enjoy exploring cities alone. I went to San Francisco last spring, in fact, and was staying with a friend for the week, but when she was busy with work or school, I would explore the city alone...and some of my favorite moments were doing just that, taking myself on my own adventures. As far as recommendations, Blue Bottle has amazing coffee (and these really great waffles); and Ritual was another fantastic coffee shop. Oh, and Burma Superstar is a little off the beaten path but has amazing Burmese food (which is like a mix of Indian/Thai food...yum.)

  5. Ah! You've inspired me to add that to my travel list---travelling alone that is. But since I'm moving to SF in less than a week I will be spending a whole lot of time alone in the city, but proud to say...not travelling. :)

  9. San Francisco is so beautiful! Your photos captured it well. I visited for the first time this summer, and I was completely smitten. (Although, definitely terrified of driving on the steep hills!)

  10. I've been eagerly awaiting this post for days. Of course you captured the little details (that I always seem to miss) beautifully. The fourth photo down is one of my favorites, ever.
