"upstate new york, autumn, brightly colored leaves. oh, the hills were on fire…"

a train ride upstate to pick apples and get a little fresh country air. the leaves haven't changed in the city yet, and those reds and oranges were brilliant. apple cider donuts, caramel apples, two spilled sacks, and one little tumble from a tree later, we had ourselves a whole bushel of apples. now what to do with all of them?

  6. If I had that many apples, I would make apple butter. Super easy, and super delicious. The perfect fall treat, in my opinion.
