magnolias.

so crisp, so elegant, so sweetly southern. they don't make them like this everywhere. 

ever since i came back from virginia, magnolias have been on my mind. the white kind with full, low branches perfect for the hide-and-seek of childhood. the kind you can cup in your hands and smell from across the yard. 

new york offered the pink variety in the spring. so very lovely, but not quite the same.
