christmas, our first married, has been lovely and festive and bubbling with tradition. icing butter cookies & humming along to ella fitzgerald classics and the nutcracker suite. gathering as a family to watch christmas vacation. baked french toast on christmas morning. bloody marys and christmas dinner on the blue ridge. we spent thanksgiving this year & last in new jersey, and last christmas eve & morning in new york -- we flew south on christmas night -- so this was christopher's first holiday with my family, and how sweet it was to share in these traditions, in this place, together. it was good and slow and joyful.
