a night at the opera.

we were gifted tickets to see la bohème for our wedding, and what a fabulous night we had with mimi & rodolfo. in the end, i declared it my most loved show. it tapped all my heart spots -- it stunned my visual sensibilities, it was romantic, it made me laugh, it celebrated the deep, lasting meaning of seemingly simple things -- a pink bonnet, a chance meeting.

we dressed in our best -- husband wore his black velvet wedding tuxedo, i wore the dress i bought for the opera in paris last winter. it appears i now possess an opera dress, and i quite like the thought.

we shared gnocchi and red wine at the cozy, dark italian restaurant in our neighborhood, the one with the windows we love, before zipping down columbus avenue in a yellow cab. we talked about month one of marriage, for this weekend marked just that. one month married. he told me vignettes from the breaths before i walked down the aisle that he hadn't shared with me before, and i remain in awe of the man he is and where he is going, and i am utterly glad to be his, to be going with him.
