amelia island.

we went to amelia island for the long memorial day weekend with my college roommate courtney and her fiancé, kyle. it was the loveliest. trees dripping in spanish moss made it all feel very much like the deep south to me, and made my heart sing.

the pace of our days was idyllic: coffee on the patio under the spanish moss, rum drinks by the pool, naps by the ocean, dinners in town, nightcaps in the hot tub, repeat. we looked for shark teeth and seashells. we rode bicycles to the market for breakfast biscuits. we sipped rosé on the beach as the sun dipped into the sea. our last night on the island, we chased the light all the way to walker's landing as the sun set over the marsh.

come september, we'll all be together again to celebrate court and kyle's marriage, and i loved this sweet getaway in the meantime, just the four of us and the sand and the waves and the stars. i was hungry for stars.
