at long last: our beloved adventure upstate. scheduling conflicts and hurricanes named sandy have gotten in our way the past couple of autumns, and we were determined to get there this year. 

and get there we did. with a playlist for the road, we made our way out of the city and into the trees. it was stunning, all rust and olive and gold under big sky and birdsong. our merry band whiled the afternoon away with apple picking, hayrides, and hot cider doughnuts, with views of the catskills as far as our eyes could see. a blissful outing indeed.
