it began with a snowfall; we played so hard that day. i turned 24 with a chocolate cake crawl across the city. there were adventures: to coney island in the winter, to dc in the spring. i drew closer to friends. there were picnics and flea markets and lazy saturdays. there was a wedding. we ate cupcakes in the park; we went swinging on swings. i found comfort in coffee and books and favorite songs on vinyl. beirut was the soundtrack to my summer. i spent the long, lazy 4th of july with my family. we took naps in the sun and told stories on the porch and went for long drives and ate a lot of peaches. i filled my treehouse with flowers and color and books. i felt, and feel, unspeakably grateful for all that i've been blessed with this year. 2012 was not without its challenges, but it was a beautiful year.
